Do I need a plasterer or decorator to fit cornicing and a dado rail?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM
Need to fit cornice and dado rail after my builder ripped it out when doing building work in my house. Is it a specialist job (it needs to match cornice and dado rail in the adjacent lounge). Or do I buy it and a decorator can fit it?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, in my opinion fitting a cornice is a plasterer job and I consider it a specialist job to a certain extend. Installing dado rail is more of a handy man thing. Having said that a lot of traders persons especially handy men these days are multi skilled and would be capable of doing both tasks with ease.

Depends on whether it’s fibrous cornice and or Dado. If so and you want it to match you need a Fibrous Plasterer who can make a mould and match existing. Same with Dado unless it’s wood then you need carpenter to fit .
