Can you skim on top of horsehair plaster?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM

Our Victorian house has the original horsehair plaster in the bedrooms. Provided it's sound and not blown, can we just get it skimmed on top of the horsehair to create a smooth finish? Or do we need to remove all the horsehair and start again?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
