Can I block in a door I got planning for if I choose not to incorporate it into the build?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM
I'm in the process of getting planning for my house - however, one door I may want to change the location of, so if I get planning on one door, if I then block that up during the build is that a breach of the planning or can I do that? And if i slightly move the position that would be a non-material amendment or worst case I can go in for retrospective.

Hi there are various reasons you can’t just block a door up ie if it’s part of a fire escape or deemed as access
Other than that you can
Hope this helps

It is possible to make changes to recent acquired planning permission as long as it don’t impact on the material planning permission given, I.e loss of privacy to your neighbours or affect on the local area. You can make a non material amendment application to your council which if granted would allow you to do this but I
Would recommend you go back to your architect first who can help you do this properly or at least advise and put you in the right direction
