New oven won't fit due to gas pipe
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.05 PM
I need a new oven so took out the existing oven to check the depth and found it to be really shallow due to the gas pipe. Existing oven is 485 mm deep, the shallowest I can find anywhere online is one model at 498 deep. I think it might just fit, but maybe only with a 2mm gap between the nut on the pipe and the back of the oven at most. Is this OK, or should there be a bigger gap?

Hi D_quinn_61,
If you're referring to a freestanding cooker you should still have enough room as the top of the hob is deeper than the rest of the cooker, usually giving you enough room for the connection to fit behind.
Just a reminder however, you should always get a Gas Safe registered engineer to connect and test a gas appliance.
Good luck!
