What to do with a concrete patch in wooden flooring

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.49 PM

When we removed the carpets in our bedroom to switch to floorboards we found a concrete block patch about 40cms x 30cms against one of the skirting boards. I think it was from where the old fireplace used to be. The floorboards have sunk on one side so it is uneven and there is a lip of about 3cms on one side so the concrete is higher than the floorboards (the other side sits flush with the floorboards). We have no idea what to do to it to make it even or to make it look better. Does anyone have any advice about what can be done to it? I'm assuming I can't just sand down one side until it sits flush? Does it need removing and relaying? Thanks

The only way to make it good and even it is braking the concrete and fit new floorboard in place, the job needs attention because pipes could run down the area, I suggest to lift a board to check if something is on the way before.

Need to break concrete away and either self level concrete back on to smooth over or break away nicely and underlay will help
