Converting a link attached garage (between 2 houses)

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.48 PM

Hi I want to convert my link attached garage into a room, which is attached to next door as well. What do I need to do?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. If you want the garage conversion done correctly, first you need to have some professional drawings made and up contact your local building control for approval.

I personally gel this wouldn’t be necessary as this falls under permitted development and would be a complete waste of money as the scope of works is minor and could be carried out with a building notice.

A good builder will know what is needed to comply with building control you will need building control look at the project at stages where they will ensure correct damp proof and fire proofing from neighbouring garage etc you can go online and look at suitable insulation needed to conform to building regulation requirements remember requirements will vary depending on if your in England Wales Scotland or Northern Ireland!
