Hollow vs solid soffit board

All other things being equal is hollow or solid soffit board better ? in terms of longevity & potential for problems in future etc. I need to make a decision between them - the eaves are deep so the hollow board will be cheaper, but cost isn't the number 1 factor for me. I have a lot of health problems & find it massively stressful having work done on the house. So while i *slightly* prefer the look of the hollow board, i care most about longevity & avoiding future problems. My contractor says they are both the same in that regard, & so the choice is simply about cost & appearance, but someone else (who sells the boards to trade) said hollow board is more prone to things like damp & bugs getting in - but then since the solid is more expensive it's in his interest to say that! Hoping to get an independent opinion please. Southern UK although dont suppose that makes much difference!

hollow soffit would be fine as long as the prep works is good for larger soffits. nailed well and no sagging it would last just as long as the soffit board. only one thing hollow soffit is harder to clean than flat board

Using hollow soffit board as soffit is fine. I'm not a fan of it used as vertical cladding but there's no drawbacks using it as soffit.

Solid soffit boards are better! Hollow soffit is more flimsy if I was you I’d go for the vented solid soffit it’s the best you can get
