Gas Works

8-10 mm pipes and TRV’s

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.48 PM

We recently had a combi boiler installed from a standard boiler the pieces down stairs where 15 mm and upstairs 8-10 mm but the installer didn’t fit TRV upstairs saying that the pipes are rare??… is this true?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can use elbow connectors which convert the 10mm to 1/2” /15mm which will connect straight on to the TRVs

If you start telling customers 'porky pies' you will always get found out. JL is correct

Remove 15mm olive and use a reducer olive in the TRV.

10mm is quite common, 8 less so but you can still get the adapters to suit whether compression or solder. If they are 8mm though I would change them for 15mm, in fact depending on the size of radiators and how cold your house is I’d go to 15mm anyway. Hope this helps

You can always use reducer in the TRV of 15mm to adapt 10mm size pipework
