is it possible to put a conservatory on the back of a weather boarded house?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
I am thinking of buying a 1990s build house which was built in keeping with area so is white weather boarded to front and back and bricks to the side, its end of terrace. Would it be possible to build a conservatory on the back as there is no real "brick" to attach it to, and what would be beneath the boarding can it be removed at the bottom to accommodate conservatory. Thanks for any thoughts! Jo

Yes you can but the boards would have to be removed and re framed and then re cladding to make it water proof, underneath would consist of frames and doors to your specific design

Hi yes ,we have done several conservatories onto weather boarded and cladded houses. Some are more difficult than others but the flashing can be made to work correctly.

the inner skin should be of blockwork construction (if not timber frame constru so just cut back vertical were you want the conservatory to be on the weather boards
draw out the shape of the conservatory on to the weather boards cut out install dpc and flashing were requrier fit timber grounds to internal blockwork or new brickwork depending on the design
