Put a hob on top of a freezer?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

I currently have an oven with the electric hob. I live alone and it's a big waste of space when I always need more freezer space in my small flat. I never use the bottom (big) oven. I rarely use the top oven because also the energy bills are a big problem now, aren't they! And I use the hob to fry and steam/boil veg. Can I put a freestanding freezer under a hob? I haven't bought anything yet I just wanted to know first if it's not a problem. Can I just rest the hob on top because I don't have any idea on how to make a shelf and would rather not spend the extra cost? I wonder if it would be too hot. Unless there is some sort of cork mat for the heat, that is the exact size of a hob I can get? I'm a perfectionist and want everything to fit exactly. I don't understand the difference between electric and induction hobs so I don't know if this hob will be plugged into the wall socket at the worktop height. In any case it's a FLAT electric hob on top of a freezer. Basically looks like what would be on an oven. I don't want a hob that is on little feet. I want it flush with the worktop height. I basically want it to look a bit like an oven in the sense that it all fits perfectly. A freestanding oven seems to be the same height as freestanding freezer with hob on top. It seems it would fit in the same gap as an oven without sticking out? These questions probably sound silly to those in the know. Thanks for your help. - to the person who already replied, I can't reply to you so have to communicate here. It's a freezer not a fridge. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Cannot be installing a hob above a fridge. Big no no. The make up of a fridge is not designed to have heat exposed to it unless their is heat reflector panels. The unit under the hob is 600mm. Free standing or intrigated fridge is also 600mm. No breathing space.the top panel of the fridge is also plastic. DO NOT INSTALL.... If in doubt contact the manufacture instructions or contact the company
