Bamboo fence on top of an existing single story extension

Do I need planning permission to install a fence on top of a single-story extension? I live on the first floor of a maisonette and the extension is my neighbor's below me.

No !… because you can’t get planning consent to build anything on someone else’s property ! You can’t just put a fence around and use your neighbours roof as a balcony or roof terrace. It’s not designed or constructed to take the load and you are likely to damage your neighbours roof if you do it. Your neighbour would need planning consent to convert their roof into a roof terrace …. But they wouldn’t get it as it’s not for their use !!
