Hi, I have a question relating to the above. What does it mean to have parameters set up via DVR for the cameras..? To add this question I assume its about setting up different zones that can be triggered if disturbed. However does it mean that it would only record when a particular area is triggered as I want my cams to record 24-7..? Any help, support and advice would be appreciated. Ali

DVR means digital Video Recording. Setting up the parameters via DVR means that you need to access your camera via the DVR (connected to a monitor). Depending on the system and the options that the system has, you can select a privacy zone. Again the privacy zone options will depend on the system. Mostly will show a shadow when the Privacy Zone has been selected, some will not trigger the motion sensor within the zone

You can set zone parameters, such as zone type, linked camera, and Stay/Away settings. The zone is a basic concept in the security control panel system. It refers to a protected area in the system and is regarded as the maximum recognizable unit to distinguish the alarm event.
it means that it would only record when a particular area is triggered which we call line crossing.
it's a good thing has we should be recording in motion detection then recording dead space, but you recording his 24/7

The parameters page for hikvision camera is for settings such as the camera resolution, frame rate, bit rate ect for each individual camera. When you set up zones in the events page these zones are motion detection zones or intrusion zones, so if your set up recording for 24/7(set up on the storage page) when the camera detects a person or vehicle in that zone it will send an alert to your phone or trigger an audible alert on the DVR.
When motion recording is set up, the DVR will record when ever it sees any sort of motion over the whole image. I.e a person, vehicle, other animals, change in light, so it shouldn't miss anything and won't be recording dead space thus resulting in larger recording time frames

Correct the parameters page is for the finer settings in the way the cameras react. With 24 - 7 recording you will have a lot of wastage on your hard drive. If you set up motion detection with a 20 second pre and post record parameter you will always have 20 seconds of recording before and after your event.
