Leak from neighbour's pipe onto my patio

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM

Looking for advice? Neighbour has leak from pipe under their decking and only visible my side of their fence. Only noticed it a few days ago as that area against the wall/fence has pots/watering cans etc covering it. Neighbour sorting leak. My issue is I don't know how long the leak has been there, what damage has been caused to my wall/foundation/damp etc. Nothing visible inside the property. Do I contact my insurance company to investigate or wait for the area to dry out...but right now we will be heading for more rain coming into Autumn/Winter. Just don't know what to do. Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would certainly suggest contacting your insurance company first. Especially in the early stages of noticing possible problems. It may be worthwhile advising the neighbour to make them aware of your concerns and intended action. Definitely worth keeping a photo diary to for records. All the best Amac Plant & Groundworks Ltd

Hi without seeing this can’t be 100% but your property is very good at keeping water out. As there’s no sign of damp inside I’m sure you will be fine. I’d just take a few pictures and make a note of dates etc of these issues just as a fall back in case at a later date you need them. Hope this helps. If you need anything else just ask. Yours faithfully Paul.

Should be fine if the water hasn't penetrator your property. Leak externally is just the same as rain water etc so shouldn't be a problem. Unless it was masses of water you'll he fine.
