Is switching from a vented to unvented hot water cylinder possible?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM

The flat I am moving into has the following hot water cylinder - https://www.telford-group.com/product/maxistore - and concerned this may be a costly way of heating hot water. (All heating is via electric storage heaters on the walls). The flat is on the top floor, 2nd floor and there are only 12 flats in the entire block. The flats were built in 2002. From what I understand, the Megaflo systems are supposed to be very economical after initial upfront costs, but not sure if I would be able to switch to one, or whether the plumbing system would support it. I know it's hard when you're not at the property so, appreciate any input that can be shared.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It is possible to switch to unvented as long as you have the space and a good cold water main supply to the location the unvented will be installed . Unvented is more economical and will provide hot water at mains pressure.

Normally the Installation is the easy part for a Qualified Engineer. Firstly you need permission of Freeholder + notification to Building Control
