Puddles on flat roof parapet

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.05 PM

I’m looking for some advice please on our new flat roof. Along the parapet there is a dip where there is no aluminium underneath (aluminium just on the corners). This causes various puddles to occur after rain. The worst area is just above our sliding doors where we walk outside. When it rains there is a constant drip onto the sliding door sill, and after rain there is always a large puddle and the water gets blown onto people below. I’ve attached a photo of the worst area and would appreciate some advice please. Our builder has just said this is normal for flat roofs and there will always be some puddling. Thanks.

You will always get some puddles on flat roofs, unless there is a very good fall and joist spaceing is correct for decking type, also depends on size of roof in comparison to the fall. It would be a big gamble for any roofer to guarantee that a roof will not pool.

Sounds like decking problem not set to correct fall water will be pooling under flashing causing leak need to inspect closer look
