Leak from roof onto fresh new plaster

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 4.05 PM

We have just had plastering redone after the council told us the roof was 'fixed', however it isn't and water is still leaking and now onto fresh plaster that got done 2 days ago. Question is will this fresh plaster that has now dried be okay for the short term before the council come back and fix the roof or will we need to tear down the plaster and re do it? Thanks!

sorry but would look on the worst side as the plaster is most likely ruined, as its the councils fault for not fixing the roof correctly they should be paying for the re-plastering. good luck Alex

Depending on the damage due to the leak it all depends on how it dry out and if at all its damaged the plasterboard what to see before making a choice feel free to post pictures once dry and the roof is fixed for a definite solution is required many thanks SMB PLASTERING AND SONS.

Will most probably have to be re done, the plaster board will have got damp and a whole lot weaker from the water damage, could have been avoided if the roof got done properly.

Get the council out again to repair roof then check out what damage the water ingress has done to your plaster, if it's dry may I suggest reskiming, but plenty of pva before it's skimmed.
