Do I give full payment if rubbish not collected yet?

Hi Ive just had work done in garden and paid deposit the work is now done except rubbish waiting to be collected.The builder wants payment today for the remaining amount.But as rubbish not been collected yet do I have right to not pay all of it until rubbish has been collected?

No, rubbish should be accounted for in the job as it’s what was needed to be removed before job started.

I would say yes, depending on your agreement. If the doing of the job and removal of rubbish was all in the quote then the job is not finished yet.

If they have agreed to remove the rubbish as part of the job then it isn’t currently completed. You should only pay the balance once ALL aspects of the job have been completed to your satisfaction.

Depending on the agreement with the person/company doing the works have confirmed their getting rid of the rubbish if they said they will then no don't pay them till the jobs completed, as they probably won't come back. But if they said no when you agreed on what work you've had done and the discussion you had then pay them.

Was rubbish removal included in the quotation? Our personal experience with all the companies we have worked with, rubbish is usually the last thing to be done/collected, once this is done the job is deemed as complete, therefore final payments are to be made. However if rubbish removal wasn’t in the quotation, then final payments should be made in full.
