DIY- paint on pebble and cement mix exterior steps

I'm about to paint on exterior steps ( made up of pebble and cement mix) . Do I need to use special primer or Mist coat(combination of emulsion paint+ water) is fine as primer? please advise

I painted my own brand new step 2yrs ago with standard concrete paint...it still looks fine....an older step may need preparation first.

I prefer to use an epoxy primer, as it is very durable and creates a great grip on the surface of the concrete for painting.

Leeds
Get rid of any flaking paint and give it a good clean including edges where dust etc collects, wait to dry. Paint with step paint available from Toolstation or the like. Two coats.

Use a stabiliser first . Stabilising solution . Then Bedec Barn Paint . Excellent for floors/ Steps . Last for years .
