Boiling not firing up for hot water downstairs?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.30 PM

As of tonight our boiler is not firing up for when the hot tap is run in the kitchen downstairs. It will fire up and heat for upstairs taps and shower. If the upstairs hot tap has just been run some hot water will then come through downstairs but when it is on alone it's coming through cold. I have tried resetting the boiler but no change. A little anxious at how much this problem is likely to cost as we have a small child in the house. * this has now been resolved and was a valve inside the boiler that needed replacing*

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Possible problem with slightly closed isolation valve on hot feed to kitchen tap, filter to the tap or the tap itself

I would suggest looking at the tap itself first before the boiler as if it was a boiler issue it probably wouldn’t work on any hot water outlet.

More likely the tap isn’t working (mixing ) properly, sometimes the boiler wont start if we are talking about combi boiler ( sensor) might not picking up if the flow of water is very low But i advise that you look at the tap as beginning

Possible diaphragm issue on the diverter valve if the boiler has one, or low inlet water pressure affecting the flow switch.
