Can I get electricity in my garage?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
I live in a block of flats and was looking into getting an EV. I have a garage which is located in a separate area (next to other houses in the complex)- would it be possible to get electricity port installed for charging here?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Probably not, unless you already have an electrical supply to the garage.
You will probably need to contact the electrical supply company, to quote for a new connection into your garage.

Anything is possible, ultimately it is all about cost. Currently there are government grants available for EV chargers to tenants living in flats and rented accommodation. Search the government website

It depends if you have a supply in your garage and it’s size, so it could be possible, but if there is no supply then a call to your supply company would be needed. If there is an existing supply an on-site survey would be needed to check if it is suitable for the additional loading prior to any work being carried out.
