Can you carpet over a 50 year old teak parquet floor.

Just that really. The floor is in a bad condition in some places

You can fit carpet on almost all sun floors including 50yr old parquet. It all depends on the condition of the subfloor (parquet on this occasion) Pictures would be more helpful

In my personal opinion, I don’t think you should lay your carpet over the old parquet floor, if you have bad parts in areas then it would be best to further investigate to see if any damp has become present, as this can travel through your underlay or carpet and cause further problems. Also if any blocks have movement this will affect the tension of the carpet over time and lead to your carpet wearing out a lot quicker. You are better of removing the parquet floor, have the sub floor freshly screeded (highly recommended) or use a heavy domestic underlay. and then lay your new floor (in this case carpet), this way your new floor will last you according to the manufacturers guarantee and you won’t have further problems as along as it’s fitted using the correct method of installation.

Are long as the subfloor is in a good condition you can lay a carpet on to it but for vinyl or safty flooring the floor must be level
