Can I use spare grave + mot type 1 as sub base for 3x2 slabs?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.43 PM

I’m going to pave an area to use as base for a summerhouse. I’m using 900x600x50mm slabs. This area was covered with gravel and the soil Is heavy in clay. Would it be possible to use the spare gravel mixed with sharp sand for one layer of sub base? I would compact it and add another layer or 2 of mot type 1.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you're already removing the shingle anyway, why not use it with sharp sand for a ballast mix and make a concrete pad? You won't need to lay any slabs or worry about MOT that way? All the best Dan

Yes it wouldn’t be totally wrong to do so as long as they are compacting it correctly
