Laying indian sandstone paving but high temps predicted 2 days later will this cause any issues
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi, I’m planning on laying my Indian sandstone paving tomorrow on a full bed of mortar (5:1 ratio) but 2 days later the temperature is predicted to be mid 30’s. Will this cause an issue with the curing or should I be ok because it will be about 2 days later? I can put it off until after the high temps later next week if that is better just thought I’d check.

2 days is plenty of time for it to cure

Go 4.1 and make sure you use a slurry primer to prime back of the slab with, and cement and water slurry will be ok. Also make sure your mix isn’t dry due to the weather as the slabs will also suck the life out the mix at the best of times

2 days would be more than enough time to set. I would use a 4-1 also and make the mix a little wetter than normal.

No it will not make a difference, just make sure you use a bit more water, I've laid them in 35+ without a hitch. The problem is if the temperature drops below freezing whilst they are still curing. Avoid laying sub 3 degrees, otherwise you are fine, just the mortar will be less workable quicker so don't mess about too long once your bed is down.
