Problem with plaster cracking round inside windows since new fascia/soffit/gutter fitted

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM

Hi, can anyone please help, I’m really worried. I had all my soffits (asbestos concrete ones) removed, together with new fascia boards down pipe and guttering, all upvc in January this year. Since this work has been done, all my inside recess window plaster that meets the frames has cracked all the way round. My kitchen has been tiled up to the frames over 20 years and never cracked, it has now cracked right through where the frame meets the wall all around the entire frame. It’s the same in the lounge around the patio doors. This has only appeared since I had the soffits etc., replaced in January. Any advice would be so appreciated. I cleaned all the frames Xmas when taking blinds down as always do at Xmas and I had all house nets down and these cracks were not there then. Really concerned 😟 any advice soooo welcomed. Elaine

Water getting in would not cause plaster to crack it would create damp patches, these cracks may have been caused when old soffits were removed

I would say when they removed the old asbestos facials they have caused disturbance by pulling hitting how ever they removed the old and also when they installed the new facia all this disturbance to old plaster could of caused the cracks

This may have bin caused on removal of old soffits or this could be a simple case of not fitting eaves trays correctly there could be a number of reasons for this but getting someone to have a look would take 5 mins and answer your question straight away thanks
