External Render - how to size and prep to paint
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi. My extension walls have been rendered professionally. What is the best way now (once dry) to size and prep for painting. What do I purchase to size the walls please? Then 50/50 paint? Then final coat?

My advise to you would be to let the walls fully cure usually between 4/6 weeks to fully dry, then wash the wall down, then just put masking tape around the areas you don’t want the paint to touch, apply a primer coat to the walls and once dried apply the colour coat of paint you wish to choose giving enough coats to finish the walls. I hope you find this helpful.

Once the plaster work looks like it's a dry, paint a mist coat before continuing with a under coat and a second coat. The mist coat will protect the fresh plaster work and done right will stop the paint from flaking off in the future.
50/50 is the mix you'll get on the Internet but just go and get a cheap contract paint then water it down until its thin enough to spread on the walls so you get a mist affect.
