My uPVC door knob is spinning around and doesn't lock the door.

Hello! I have a problem with my uPVC door knob on balcony. The problem is that I can open my door but I can't lock it because the knob is spinning around and doesn't lock it. Can I fix it myself? Thanks in advance!

highly likely the spindle has fallen to bits, without seeing it that is what it sounds like

It is possible the the handle or spindle has worn, if the opposite handle is spinning around too it is most likely a gearbox failure

My opinion is that the mechanism is broken or the spindle has dislodged from the handle.
Yes potentially you could do it yourself, it depends on your skill base and whether you can get the same lock. My advise would be, ask a Locksmith to give you an no obligation diagnosis and quote.
