Foil back plasterboard
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
Is it possible to use an adhesive to put foil back plasterboard onto bare brick. I can batten but thought dot and dab is quicker. I want to use foil back plasterboard to prevent damp .

You cannot dot and dab foil backed plasterboard. The whole process of using adhesives is to get both materials to bond together through absorption. Foil backed plasterboard prevents this as the point of it is to stop any moisture soaking into the Gypsum. Foil backed boards don't prevent damp they just prevent it soaking in.
Find and fix the Damp first then use normal boards

You could use a polyurethane adhesive (e.g. Mega Stik) but I'd personally recommend fixing any damp issue at the source rather than using foil backed boards. If its not possible to fix the damp issue Mega Stik will work but can be quite difficult to work with.

Foil backed plasterboard can be dot & dabbed, apply circles of liquid damp proof course (synthaprufe) to where you going to put the bonding adhesive on the foil, chuck sand at the places where youve put the damp proof liquid on, leave to dry overnight...apply driwall adhesive to where you have the done this....and stick to wall....
