Bathroom Fitting

Fitting shower doors straight on to tiled floor

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

we have a wetroom, which is step-free . It has recently had the bathroom walls re-tiled and floor, with the drain flush with the floor. There is no shower tray. We got the old shower doors re-fitted, and water seeps through the bottom. The tiler has said the seals on the shower door have perished and has recommended that we fit glass shower doors which will eliminate the problem My question is can this be done, or will a shower tray have to be fitted? The tiler did say he will arrange for it to be fitted by his 'plumber' but i'm a bit hesitant

You can fit any kind of wet room glass panel or shower enclosure to your existing wet room set up. I would say if you have water working it's way past your existing shower doors then it hasn't been sealed properly and should be a quick fix without replacing anything

Hopefully you have a gradient or fall away from the opening & really there should not be that much water to get out, without seeing a image it’s hard to tell what’s going on but normally sealant or replacing seals should fix it ?

Are the doors fitted into a frame, that is sealed to the floor? If they are it's simple just to seal along the bottom edge of the frame on the outside to the tile's. There's no need to fit new doors if this is the case.but it's just doors dragging across the tiles well it will never work. Also I've never seen doors that are not in a frame of some sort.if this is the case fit doors in a frame, there's no need for a shower tray.
