Replacement of electric heated towel rail

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

I have an old Creda electric heated towel rail in the bathroom on which the white enamel is chipping off exposing the metal underneath. It needs to be replaced, but apart from the height/width dimensions, I'm not sure what else I need to consider when buying a new one. Can anyone advise? I've noticed that the wattage (output, presumably) on the old model is given as 84-100W, but most models I've found online are 150W. Would this be an issue?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. Your electric radiator is most likely powered from a fused spur. The smallest fuse within that spur should be 3 Amps. A 150W heater would only use 0.63Amps so this would be safe as the amps within the spur should surpass this. Amps=watts/volts Amps =150W / 240V = 0.63A

Towel rail should be controlled by 13 amp fuse spur, so there shouldn't be any issue.

I would make sure that it is on an RCD protected circuit just in case this was overlooked before.
