if a roofer has not given a quote does that mean they do not want the job

Most likely they are not interested. It would depend how long it has been since their site visit.

I agree with the first chap, although you will find that the jobbing roofer will only give you a verbal quotation, usually they don't have a registered email address for their business or headed paperwork! And, once they start the job they can up the price as you have nothing in writing. I always say to all my clients to get a verbal and a written quotation, that means that a quotation is a contract. I know about a few roofers/builders giving quotations then asking for more money, Never, ever get an estimate and never give them more money than is stated in the quotation. I agree with the first chap it would appear they’re not interested and if this would be the case communication skills is what now comes into play as you would communicate and Have dialogue with the customer telling them how are you feel

Just call and ask if they’re interested or not, if you’re urgent, express that. If you don’t have it after a few days just go for another reputable firm.
