Electrical

Which trade for fishing cables and decorating .

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.29 PM

I need network cabling for CCTV and ethernet done in my town house. I already have a few in place but the work is not completed . This will involve fishing cables holes in the ceiling and then decorating them back again so that we don't see any traces of the same. I can complete the endpoints myself. I need someone with experience of fishing cables and also of decorating.. Should I be looking at electricians or some other trades ? I am looking for 1-2 days of work at max.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes, you could ask an electrician, but maybe a security alarm installer or CCTV specialist would also have the necessary skils as they tend to use exacly those types of cable (cat 5e, 6 or 7) and may even give you a competitive price to complete the whole job. A plasterer would be best at making good holes but some decorators may also have those skills.

If there are a lot of making good needed to a high standard then I suggest getting a decorator in after the electrician has done his work. Since electrician is doing the cable pulling you may as well let them do all the connections also as they should have the tools to verify the cable is not damaged during the cable pull at the end
