Checking plug socket is safe

Changed a few plug sockets today as we’ve recently decorated. Done a few before but ive got a bit of a tingly arm now as though I recieved an electric shock. Didn’t feel anything at the time. Don’t know whether I’m just been paranoid now. But the question is, is there a way of checking a plug is safe?

An electrician will be able to check this for you and rectify any issues. If you think there’s an issue with it, it’s not really something you should try to check yourself.

Hi Yasamin,
There is a safe way to check if the socket is live or not. Using a socket an see, which all electricians will have, is the best, you plug this device into the socket and it’ll show you if the cables are round the right way and make a noise until the socket is isolated correctly.

Changing a socket should be always done with the power off.
A qualified person should be doing this for you.
But if you had a shock you should had noticed instantly.
