What will the KVA be of our new house?

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.58 PM

Hi, We bought a property and are currently renovating it top to bottom. We called the DNO about moving the electrical box from the front of the house to under the stairs. When they came to do a survey, they mentioned that the house is likely to be 60 amp due to its age. They recommended I work out the KVA required for the new house. I am not sure how to work this out because as we don't live in the property with the new set up, its hard to know what it will be. Here is a breakdown of our arrangement: - 4 bedroom terrace house - 7KW air source heat pump - Water cylinder/heat pump control unit - Solar panel array - 5kw - MVHR unit - Usual appliances: hob, fridge, freezer, washing machine, oven, dryer), several computer monitors etc - electric blinds Can anyone help me in trying to work it out???? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you contact the DNO (western power) and request and upgrade to the fuse they should do it free of charge I've do this many time you should be able to upgrade to an 80A fuse if not at 100A fuse but they will confirm this when they do a survey. Calculated it 13.8 KVA on a 60A fuse
