Electric cooker switch light turns off when i try to turn cooker on

The switch with a light on the wall that I turn on before I turn on the cooker turns on but as soon as I turn on any of the knobs on the cooker it goes off and the cooker doesn't work. Is this a problem with the cooker or the switch? The light on the wall comes back on as soon as I turn the knob on the cooker back to zero. The Lanlord will send an electrician if it is the switch but I need to find a repair man if it is the cooker.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like somebody has changed the switch and wired it incorrectly. Could even be reversed polarity.

From my experience this duse to a loose connection which have melted the switch so need a new switch.
Have a costumer which the shower pullcord has the exact same issue as your.
