Kitchen Fitting

Retrofit slimline integrated dishwasher to 500mm gap

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.04 PM

Hi I would like to add a dishwasher to a kitchen which doesn't already have one. Unfortunately the design of the kitchen means there's only one place that it will fit. I've measured the existing cabinet / door, which is 500mm wide, with a standard slimline dishwasher 450mm. I assume I'd need to remove the existing cabinet and then pack it out so that the dishwasher fits snugly in the gap. I think an integrated one would be the better option as the packing might look naff The kitchen isn't particularly old (about 15 years), and is light natural wood coloured. I can't find matching replacement doors so it looks like I'll need to reuse the existing cupboard door. The handle is on the left hand side but I have a spare which I could put on the right, rather than moving the handle to the center and leaving holes There's sufficient plumbing outlets so not a worry. I think there's an electric outlet but will get another added if not Is there anything else I need to consider? And has anyone else done something similar like this? I'll probably get a fitter to do it for me, but want to make sure it's actually doable before committing to anything Thanks in advance

Paul, Sounds good to me, just consider that you will need to install the dishwasher away from the corner so that when you pull the down down to open it it doesn’t clash with the handles or appliances running on the adjacent wall. Good Luck Chris Ellis
