Gap between fascia and soffit

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.04 PM

Should there be a gap between the fascia and soffit? We had had ours replaced this week, in parts they are sealed together and in other parts there's about an inch gap.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The fascia has a lip on the bottom of it which generally supports the soffit boards. So really they should sit together

There should be no gap between fascia and soffit. Some pvc soffits have a lip for soffit to sit on and timber fascia has a groove for soffit to fit Into! Long and short there should be no gaps

The fascia and soffit board should sit flush to each other if the soffit rises in places the spar feet haven’t been lined up correctly before installing

They should be no gap at all between a fascia and soffit. The soffit should sit on the lip at the bottom of the fascia. Hope this helps.
