Structural support for internal door frames (1930 house, 40cm door frames have been removed)

Hello, I have a 1930s house and the door frames (40cm thick) have been removed and it’s unclear if it needs supporting. I think the frame acts as a lintel as there's exposed brick with concrete covering some of the bricks. Carpenter suggested it needs supporting. 1st Floor - 4 door frames removed (800cm brick width), 3 cupboard door frames removed (720cm width) Ground floor - new door was put in (don't think its been supported), bathroom frame untouched for now (can it be removed? – no brick work on the right) Do I need speak to a structural engineer? How much is a spec likely to cost?

Door frames are not meant for structural support. If you’ve taken them out and the brick/stone has not moved then there should be a support there. It could be wood, concrete or Soldier bricks. The Builder is correct, you need a structural Engineer before you do anything else. Pete Extending Homes

you will need some lintels installing, if there are none present. Some older properties didn't have any installed and the timber windows or door frames actually provided the support. When they are removed the bricks may slip and will need supporting with either a catnic or concrete lintel. You need to seek the advice of a structural engineer who can specify what you need - pretty straight forward job for any competent builder. hope this helps

I don't see a need for a structural engineer as these appear to be standard door openings. A concrete or box lintel should be suitable. Ensure there is a min 150mm bearing on eaxh side over the existing brick work. The only issue might lie with the opening you mentioned that has no brick work down one side. This may need a column but, again, I shouldn't think a SE is necessary.
