Garage spilt (50/50), office and garage
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM
Hello, Hoping someone would be able to help? We are moving to a property which has a detached garage which we were thinking of converting into 50/50 spilt garage and office. It already has a window, pvc door, boiler and plumbing in there. Would we need planning permission or would building regs be needed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Hannah

Both planning permission and building regulations are required for this conversion if it didn’t already have it.

Different councils have different regulations. For instance where I live at least 6 people have done similar alterations like the one you want and not one has needed planing permission. It’s not to say you don’t but for your own safety do check up with your local council and above all check up with your insurance company has making any adjustments to your house May effect your insurance policy.
Hope this helps.
