Why won't my upstairs lights and boiler work?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM

After removing the landing light fitting to change to a new one. The upstairs lights and boiler won't work but the upstairs plugs do. The fuse board hasn't tripped either. What do I need to do? There are 7 wires coming from the upstairs light fitting too. Many thanks

Why would you want to look at the wiring? My guess is the RCD is tripped. Failing that-call an electrician.

The lighting will be on a separate circuit to the sockets as they run on different amp ratings. It sounds like you may have accidentally disconnected or incorrectly rewired the lighting circuit when changing the landing light. I would imagine the boiler has been connected to the lighting circuit instead of the sockets as it only requires 3amps. All the 7 wires you found will need to be correctly reconnected as you found them. Hope this is helpful.

get an electrician to look at it, it is the safest thing to do.
