Thumb turn will not turn and lock unlock door
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.46 PM
Hi I have a front door with a thumb turn on the inside and obviousy key outside. The key works and opens closes locks the door but the thumb turn will not rotate it feels jammed. If the key is inserted the thumb turn will work but feels notchy. This is a euro cylinder I think so unsure if there is any servicable parts.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Underneath the thumbturn there is a grubscrew, line it up with the groove on the eurocylinder shaft, tighten grubscrew and it should operate correctly

Hi there. It certainly seems there is an issue with the thumb turn. Unfortunately there are now user serviceable parts on a euro cylinder.
It is likely you’ll need the lock replaced but it might be worth contacting your local locksmith. They can access whether the lock can be repaired or replaced.

The Grub screw is either loose on the thumbturn or the pin inside is worn.
