How to remove anaglypta wallpaper from a partition wall
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
I am about to start redecoration the main bedroom of a flat I have recently moved in. The whole room is covered in a pink anaglypta paper which just needs to go. 3 of the walls as main wall, one however is a partition wall which the previous owner installed to create a walk in wardrobe. At first glimpse it looks like they have simply stuck the paper on top on the material used for the partition wall, without any sort of plastering/skimming. How can I remove it without damaging it? Or is there something I could use to go over the wall paper just in this section? Thanks

Cut around all edges, ceiling line, window cills, skirting boards and architrave with a sharp stanely knife prior to stripping.
Try dry scraping the paper first, often you will be able to remove the surface layer and then damp down any backing paper left on.
In my experience you won't be able to remove the paper from board that hasn't been skimmed without damaging it, which can be repaired by skimming or if it's an option you could plasterboard over the existing wallpaper.

Although I 90% agree with the solution , plater boarding will only create the same problem if papered , ideal if just painting.
Another way if stud wall is damaged is to cross line with a high quality lining papaper and to fill joins with filler mixed with a bit of top coat paint and lightly sanded to give a top quality finish .
