How smooth should small edges and around sockets be?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.29 PM
Hi, Just had a plasterer in. They have used beads for outward corners (chimney) and most of the walls appear smooth and well finished. However, the areas around the sockets and switches, especially near the door were it's tricky to reach are rough with blemishes. Equally a lot of the wood work has plaster splashes and marks on them, Is this normal practise? Many Thanks

It should still most definetly should be smooth around sockets . , Tho it may me more tricky , a Plasterer should take the time to make sure everything is smooth . Attention to detail and using the right tools is key to somthing like this .

There is no reason that the socket areas should not be smooth if done correctly. If woodwork has been splashed then that is just poor masking. Because of the texture of skimming plaster it will tend to splash.

It's up to the plasterer to make the job ready for the decorators to paint. But the decorator or plasterer can sand down ruff areas of plaster

The woodwork should clean , I literally just get some clean water and wipe it down when I’m finished. Also around the sockets should be no different from the walls . Clean and finished
