Best new boiler option to buy

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.29 PM

Hi All, I need to replace my boiler in my 2 bed 1 bathroom flat (with 5 -although will be upgraded to 7 radiators). Which boiler is best from the below options please: - Worcester Greenstar 25si Combi - +ve: small so can get in a kitchen cabinet; been on market for years so reliability known -ve: hard to work on for repairs (apparently); old tech; - Worcester Greenstar 4000 25kW: +ve: new tech; new tech for adding smart tech (not hugely important to me). -ves: Reliability not tested in market; - Baxi Assure 25kw - Ideal Logic+ Combi C24 24kW Ignoring price and assuming similar warranty lengths which would be the most reliable and would you prefer in your own homes? I have a WB Greenstar 25si elsewhere and have generally been happy with it so for me was out of the 2 Worcester boilers but would prefer some professional opinions/experience. Many thanks in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The Worcester and baxi boilers are both good boilers downfall on Worcester boiler is that the parts can be very expensive if anything was to go wrong in the future you also pay a bit more for them I have a baxi boiler in my own house and have never had an issue with it although I work on both boilers I would recommend the baxi

Do not buy a Worcester, they are full of plastic parts. The Baxi 600 is a nice boiler, comes with a 7 year warranty, however, the the Baxi Main eco is exactly the same boiler inside and comes with a 5 year warranty. And both boilers are the same as the baxi 800. In terms of Rads, as a rule of thumb you need 1.5kw per rad, so a 25kw boiler is sufficient. A couple of other boilers worth looking at are the Atag, these come with a 10year warranty but can be 14 years if you have there stat + heating filter. One other options would be a Navien boiler. They aren't well known yet in the UK, but come with a 10 year, I'm fitting on on thursday as there is a boiler shortage on baxi/mains which I tend to fit. I'm also told the PCB for the Nation is £60 and the gas valve is the most expensive part at £75, these prices are very very inexpensive for boiler parts. Navien are big in the USA, Canada and Russa, because even in the UK market for about 5 years.

Dear sir/madam Thank you for your email, 25kw boiler will be ample for this property type and the adaptations you would like to have. Personally a Vaillant or Worcester would be the choice of boiler I would install. If space determines boiler position then you can get the Vaillant eco fit pure with is designed to be able to be installed in kitchen cupboards etc also you can get a rear flue allowing the boiler to be be possibly raised and aesthetically can look better as no flue for products of combustion is visible. Quite often combi boilers in kitchen cupboards can be seen at the bottom of the units as they do not fit entirely in the cupboard with pipework. This is very common and pipework is often boxed in methodically.

Comparing the price and service between Worcester and baxi, I would buy baxi for myself. They provide long warranty plus reasonable price for parts if anything goes wrong.
