Wall tanking slurry vs cavity drain membrane

Does tanking slurry actually work?, Does it prevent water ingress through basement walls? If so why then is it not always used? Why would anyone use a cavity drain system over tanking slurry when tanking slurry seems so much easier and simpler to install?

To stop pressure build up. It’s better to let the water flow away rather than form a barrier
