Dining lamp in new build with spot lights
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.28 PM
We are in a new build flat (2019) with spot lights throughout. I want to hang a light above our dining table. How likely is it that I can somehow use the wires for the spot lights to also power the dining lights? The alternative would be to run a wire up along the wall from a socket and that would look horrible.

There’s a few ways to get it to work either with or without the downlights with minimal damage. An electrician should be able to go few options with you

If you want the new dinning light to switch on/off with the existing spot lights then you can feed off an existing spot light with minimal damage. It is a simple task for any electrician.
If you want the new light to switch on separately from the existing spot lights, this will involve more investigation from a electrician to find the best solution.
