Internal Soil vent pipe - reduced in size or remove and make external

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

I would like to make more room in my bathroom for a new toilet/sink unit. The soil stack and vent are internal. There is a soil vent pipe that is boxed into the corner of the bathroom and I would like to either reduce the size of the pipe to make the new unit fit, or alternatively move the soil vent pipe so it goes outside. What is the smallest size this pipe could be if it remained internal? Would it be possible to just move the soil vent pipe outside or would the entire soil stack need to be moved outside too. I wouldn’t be doing this work myself and would be looking to hire someone. Many thanks for your help.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It would be best to relocate soil stack outside rather than reducing the size of it.

You cannot reduce the size diameter of a waste, foul pipe without causing you problems down the line due to carrying solids 💩😷 newer builds placed soil pipes internally but when these become blocked it can be very costly if a very stubborn blockage occurs.been in the drain trade for many years external soil pipes is a must and is a straight forward job for someone with years of experience.

Good afternoon, Due to you hiring a professional to carry out the job, moving the stack externally will be your best option. Reducing your waste pipe will cause blockages.

You cant alter size of the soil pipe, they are big for a reason. The only option you have is to either move it outside or get a macerator.
