noise from M1 , what remedy is open to me

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM

i live adjacent to the M1 AND THE RESULTING NOISE LEVEL . at present i have 6 ft high wooden panel fencing on top of concrete kickboards ....total 7 ft but noise levels are intolerably high since the consruction of a smart motorway added lane .. I looked at the possibility of a brick wall at 40 foot wide x 6 foot high but too expensive especially with highway planted tree roots to remove . What would the effect be to place soundproofing onto my existing fence and then affixing panels onto that . Or would i need to purchase spcial sound proof panels

You could make the fence even higher using extra gravel boards and taller fencing it would help eliminate some noise. Also planting some trees/bushes within your boundary could help but not a quick fix. Hope that helps

Sand bags fill up with Sand and stack up along the fence.

I would use 8-10feet acoustic panels

I would suggest contacting the highways commission. Noise suppressing are available.
