Do hairline settlement cracks need repairing?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.42 PM
Hi, I have a few hairline cracks in my ceilings between plasterboards and have been told these are just settlement cracks. I'm not too bothered aesthetically as they're not very noticeable, but am just wondering whether they should be repaired to avoid future issues. Otherwise I would be happy to leave them for now. Any advice appreciated, thanks!

I don't see this as being an issue going by the information you have provided. I would be concerned if the ceiling had water damage or anything bigger than a hairline crack.

Definitely not a concern by hairline cracks, try scoring the cracks a little deeper and wider with a utility knife/filing knife and fill back with some easi filler.

A good answer but I would repair the cracks by taking the air line crack back a bit with a Stanley knife then repair with easy fill rub down and paint should be ok thenš

Agree With the answer but me personally I wold fill them with easy fill, rubb them and repaint the ceiling. If they reappeared then there must be something wrong along the joints maybe there is not tape.
