Window won’t close
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.58 PM
We have a window that won’t close, the handle is on the bottom edge and it opens up outwards. It closes down there, but does not lock in at the top. The “hooks” are extremely rusted, but not sure what they are called so can’t find a replacement. Not sure if this is the only issue with the window.

Without seeing the window, it sounds like the hinges may have failed and the locking strip may need to be replaced.
A local double glazing repair company should be able to sort it reasonably cheaply

If it's a bottom opener and closing at the bottom and not the top then my guess without seeing it is the hinges are shot and sounds like could do with a new locking Rail too.

Check the catches on the bottom so may not line up as they might have moved.

Hi, it sounds like the espag locking mechanism faulty. If is is rusty then the handle spindle will have snapped the gear box. Thanks.
