Who to ask to reattach ducting for bathroom extractor fan?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.04 PM

Hi, just moved into a new house, surveyor pointed out that the ducting in the loft for the bathroom extractor fan has detached from the roof tile. Not sure who to ask to get it reattached, electrician or roofer? The loft isn't boarded so could be a bit tricky

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Handy man/women is your cheapest and easiest way, you could ask the developers of the property to see if they will resolve it for free as it should be connected.

In my opinion it would be wiser to ask an electrician. There may be a requirement to safely isolate the fan before working on the ducting and it would be a good opportunity for the rest of the fan to be inspected by the electrician.

Electricians install extractor fans in bathrooms, so your best bet would be one

Hi there, It should be a roofer that attends this job, as it has detached from the roof tile above

Hi, if the ducting is still in place then this should be a relatively easy job to reattach the ducting by using a cable tie Make sure the fan isolator is switched off first before any works are carried out on or near the extractor fan If there is no ducting or vent available then this should be done by a roofer Thanks
